Edna Brake

December 19, 1941 – May 19, 2026

Corner Brook, NL

It is with heavy hearts the family of Edna Brake announce her passing peacefully at the Western Long Term Care, Palliative Care Unit on May 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Edna was born in Corner Brook on December 19, 1941, the daughter of Maxwell and Ida Mosher (predeceased).

Edna spent decades providing support and care at the Interfaith Home, and she also worked as a personal care giver for many private clients. Her work was never just a job to her. It reflected the kind of person she was, loving, caring, compassionate, and always ready to help others. For those who knew her, Edna was a pillar of strength, someone people could depend on. She gave her care generously, not only through her work, but in the way she lived each day.

She was the beloved partner of Jim Taylor and a devoted mother to Albert (Lisa), Glen (predeceased), and Alison (Mike). Family meant everything to Edna, she was especially proud to be the grandmother of Mackenzie (Marcus), who filled her heart with joy. That love was one of the great gifts of her life, and it will remain a cherished part of her memory especially to her sisters Valda, Ivy (predeceased), Marie (Jim predeceased), Lorraine (Bax), Shirley (Bob), Olga (Roger), Dawn (Terry predeceased), and Denise (Barry) and her brothers Frank (predeceased), Max (Joy), Bob (Cora), Roy (Marilyn) and Austin and many nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends.

Edna also found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed playing cards with her sisters, and she could often be found at the Palace Theatre, playing bingo in her favorite spot. She also had a special gift in the kitchen, and many will remember her for making the best homemade bread that she generously shared.

Edna will be remembered for the compassion she showed, the strength she carried, and the comfort she gave so freely to others. The family would like to thank the caregivers Tawnya, Angie, Cheryl and Renee and especially to Allison's dear friend Kelly for her support during this most difficult time.
