June 9, 1951 – May 21, 2026

 

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Susan Elizabeth Garnier announce her passing on May 21, 2026, at the Palliative Care Unit, in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Sue was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Bride Ducey, as well as her parents-in-law Kevin and Teresa Garnier, and brothers-in-law Gerard Garnier, John Piercey, Maurice Murphy and Robert Garnier.

Left to mourn with loving memories are her beloved husband of nearly 52 years, Kevin Garnier, and her cherished children Kevin (Vanessa) and Paul (Erica). She will be forever and deeply missed by her beloved grandchildren Emily (Jacob), Joshua, Nolan and Ellie; sisters Mary Penny (Lloyd) and Kim Audeau (Michael); sisters-in-law Barbara, Glenda, Elizabeth Hicks (Larry), Mary (Chris); brothers-in-law Brian, Wally (Sheila), David (Geraldine), long time friend Ceal Highmore, along with many extended family members and a large circle of dear friends who will feel her loss deeply.

Sue dedicated her career to teaching primary and elementary school, where she was known as a caring and committed educator and administrator whose students held her with great admiration.  Beyond her work, she found great joy in travelling, entertaining friends, golfing and quilting, and treasured the many friendships she formed throughout her life, holding her faith close till the end.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the amazing doctors and nursing staff of the Western Regional Palliative Care Unit for their absolute compassionate and professional care.

In keeping with Sue’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place Sunday, May 24th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Holy Rosary Parish in Pasadena, NL. The funeral service will be held at Holy Rosary Church on Monday, May 25th at 2 p.m., with internment to take place following the service at Mount Patricia Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, any donations in Sue’s memory are asked to be made to Western Regional Hospital Foundation.

Sue will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to her family, and the many friendships she cherished throughout her life.  She will be missed and remembered by every life she touched throughout her time with us.
