Obituary of Marie Anne Murphy

Marie Anne Murphy (née Mugford)
February 15, 1954 – May 28, 2026

It is with sadness that the family of Marie Anne Murphy (née Mugford), age 71, announce her passing on May 28, 2026, at Long Term Care in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Marie was born in Corner Brook on February 15, 1954, to the late George and Mary Mugford.

She leaves to mourn her daughters, Jaime and Nicole; grandchildren Mason and Adel; her siblings, Rita, Laura, Gerry, Terence, Sammy, and Michael; as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Marie shared a particularly special and loving bond with her niece, Mikayla, whose companionship brought her great joy. As well, Marie will be missed by her uncle Francis (Francy) Walsh and her aunt, Margaret McCormack.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated and compassionate staff of Corner Brook Long Term Care for the care and kindness shown to Marie throughout her stay. The family also wish to express their profound appreciation to Marie’s dearest friend, Beverly Hickey, whose unwavering love, devotion, and friendship knew no bounds.

Prior to Marie’s hospitalization, she was a tireless walker and loved to stop and chat with so many folks on her usual routes. All those who chatted with her on those many walks said she was such a delightful and genuine soul. Her presence has been and will continue to be missed.

Marie’s suffering has come to an end. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved mother and father, at peace and at home once again.

In keeping with Marie’s wishes, a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
