Obituary of Melvin Joseph Lavers

April 6, 1946 - July 5, 2026

It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Melvin J.  Lavers of Port Saunders, announce his passing on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at the Rufus Guinchard Health Care Centre, at 80 years of age.

He leaves to mourn with loving memories,  daughters:  Tammy (Darrell) Coombs, Kaylie Lavers; sons:  Melvie (Nadine) Lavers, Scott (Wanda) Lavers; grandchildren:  Chelsea, Jessica, Jordan, Jayden, Jaymee, Gracie Len, Kimberly, Timothy, Adrienne; great-grandchildren:  Devon, Darcie, Wyatt, Watson, Emmie, Autumn; mother-in-law Mary Samson; sisters:  Rita Hynes, Imelda Ryan, Lorrie Ann Pittman; sisters-in-law:  Jean, Eunice, Vera; brothers-in-law:  Deon, Morris, Jerry, extended family and friends.

Melvin Joseph Lavers was born April 6th, 1946 to Robert and Nora Lavers.  On May 27th, 1967, he married the love of his life, Dolly Lavers and settled in Port Saunders, NL  They went on to have three children.  Melvin worked at the highway camps as an operator till 1991.  He was a dedicated father and grandfather.  He loved when his children and their families came to visit.  Melvin enjoyed going for ski doo and four wheeler rides with his beloved dog Dober.

Melvin is predeceased by his beloved wife Dolly Lavers, grandson Vachon Tatchell, granddaughter Jennifer Lavers, parents Robert and Nora Lavers, a large circle of family including, brothers, sisters, neices and nephews. 

Visitation:  Wednesday, July 8, 2026 @ St.  John the Divine Church in Port Saunders, NL from 5pm - 9pm

Thursday, July 9, 2026 @ St.  John the Divine Church, Port Saunders, NL,  from 9am - 9pm /  Family Service 7pm

Funeral Mass:   Friday, July 10, 2026 @ St.  John the Divine Church, Port Saunders, NL  11am with Father Jaison officiating. 

Interment to follow at the Sandy Cove Interfaith Cemetery in Port Saunders, NL.
