Obituary of Joseph James House (CARD OF THANKS)

The family of the late Joseph James (Jim) House would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone for the kindness and support shown our family at the time of his passing. Your calls, online messages, cards, and gifts of food were greatly appreciated. We would like to especially thank the nurses and LPNs of unit 3B at Western Memorial Regional Hospital for the kindness and consideration they provided during his time under their care from late August to mid-November 2020. We are also grateful to the administration at Western Long Term Care Home, and especially to the staff on Shoreview Unit   You all made the transition for dad to his new home better than we could have ever hoped. Thank you.

The family of Joseph James (Jim) House of Gillams, NL is saddened to announce his passing on March 09, 2021 at the age of 88 years.

Jim was predeceased by his wife Martha Florence nee Banks, parents Stanley and Susannah, sisters Sylvia, Bertha, and Inez and brothers Abe, Herb and Dave.

He is lovingly remembered by sons Spencer (Irene), Roger, and Byron; grandchildren Kathleen (Shaun), Thomas, Louis (Emma); great grandchildren Norah, Lorelei, and Iris; and sister Betty (Derek), as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Jim was a respected member of the community and is remembered for his volunteer work with the church, school board and community council.  He enjoyed wood working and hobby farming, and spending time at his cabin in Bear Cove, White Bay.

Due to restrictions related to Covid-19, visitation and the funeral service are by invitation.  Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home on St. Mark’s Ave., Corner Brook from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2021.

The funeral service will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 12 with Rev. Malcolm Palmer officiating.
