Wilfred Randell
Davis
November 9, 1919 – April 15, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, Wilfred Randell Davis, in his 102nd year. Dad died with family at his side at the Long Term Care Home in Forteau, on Thursday, April 15, 2021 where he received extraordinary compassionate care.
He leaves to mourn his three daughters: Mabel (Gideon) Buckle, Vivian (Urias) Normore, Sybil (Gilbert) Linstead. His five grandchildren: Wavey (Tim) Stefl, Kay (Darren) Buckle, Jeinean (David) Barney, Morley (Paula) Linstead, Marius (Rose) Linstead; and eleven great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Olivia, Jordan, Caleb, Abby, Rory, Luke, Carter, Penny, Liam and Spencer. His sister Mabel Oxford and sister-in-law Rita Davis. As well, a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends whose lives he has touched over the decades.
Wilfred was pre-deceased by his parents William and Isabella nee Sweet, wife Margaret nee Dempster, sister Evelyn Casey, and brother Cecil Davis.
Dad was born in L’Anse Amour, Labrador on November 09, 1919, first born of 4 children. He was one of the hardest working men that we know. He started with the fishery during the summer, cutting wood, herding cattle and harvesting his garden in fall along with picking a gallon of berries or two. There was never a task that was too hard for him to do. He was always there to give a helping hand, a mug of tea or the shirt right off his back if need be. That was the kind of man he was and the best storyteller the Labrador Coast has ever heard.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. at the English Point Gospel Hall.
The family will be having a private funeral service on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., by invitation only. Interment to follow at the cemetery in Forteau.
