It is with great sadness that the family of the late Donald Hoyles announce his passing on Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Western Long Term Care, Palliative Care Unit in Corner Brook at the age of 75 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 55 years Joyce (nee Kean); daughters: Marilyn Gilbert (Mike) and Penny Hoyles (Neil Companion); granddaughters: Lindsay Gilbert (Courtney), Emily Gilbert and Mackenzie Companion; sister Jane Halfyard; sisters-in-law: Amy Hoyles and Karen (Gerry) Sheppard; brother-in-law Wallace (Eleanor) Kean; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and a large circle of friends at Bonne Bay Pond where he spend many years at his cabin with family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Obediah and Edith Hoyles, brother Garland Hoyles, parents-in-law Sadie and Claude Kean, brother-in-law Terry Halfyard. A very special thank you to Janet Peckford, Janice Peddle, Dr. Follett, Dr. Lafferty, Dr. Penney, Dr. White and all the nurses and staff at Western Long Term Care, Palliative Care for your support, compassion and care. A private family visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home. A private family funeral service will take place on Monday, May 3 at 2:00 p.m. from Fillatre’s Funeral Home Chapel, St. Mark’s Avenue with Archdeacon David Taylor officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 Government regulations visitation and funeral service by invitation only. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to Daffodil Place or the SPCA.
