Donald “Don” Stowe, aged 59, passed peacefully away at home surrounded by his loving family. Leaving to mourn: his loving wife Jessie (Carter); apple of his eye, daughter Jennifer, Victoria, BC; Mother Eva (Stowe) Gillingham, Corner Brook; Brothers: Cal (Mabel), Carl (Bernice) both of Pasadena, Tony (Rita), Howley, Rod (Marilyn), Little Rapids; Sisters: Gloria (Lowell) Thomas, Orangeville, ON, Marilyn (Byron) Butt, Greenwood, NS; Sisters-in-law: Dianne (Hubert) Butt, St. John’s, Wanda (John) McCarthy, Frenchman’s Cove, Brenda (Doug) Reid, Little Rapids, and Louise Piercey, Vancouver, BC; As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by: Father Roy Stowe; Stepfather Fred Gillingham; Grandparents John William & Elizabeth Gosse, and Jessie & Edmund Stowe; Parents-in-law Alex & Pheoba Carter. Don was a great outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and working with his bees. In his younger days, he was involved in the Boy Scouts of Canada as a member and leader. More recently Don has served as the Director of the Salmon Preservation Association of Western Newfoundland, a committee member of Ducks Unlimited Newfoundland & Labrador, and as a past president of the Outfitters Association. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Saturday 6-9 PM. A service to celebrate Don’s life will be held on Sunday, June 21st at 3:30 PM at his home on Tipping Drive, Pasadena with a reception to follow. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or Humber Valley United Church, Pasadena.
