Born and raised on Woods Island and a long-time resident of Curling, Marie was loyal to her family; her friends; her community; and her church.  </span><span style="font-size: medium;">She lived her life with honesty; passion; and with unconditional integrity. She was talented and a leader in her community.</span><span style="font-size: medium;">  </span><span style="font-size: medium;">She was an exceptional lady and beautiful human being. She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 54 years, Jack (John); her daughters Michelle Pennell, Madonna (Mark) Flynn, Lisa (David) Stewart, Tina (Vince) Sheppard and Mia (Dan) Greene; her grandchildren Sean, Aaron, Danette, Jonathan, Holly, Emily, Emma and Dawson.</span><span style="font-size: medium;">  </span><span style="font-size: medium;">She is mourned by her brother Timothy (Audrey), sister-in-law Linda (Russell), brother in-law Dan (Maude) and her many nieces and nephews.</span><span style="font-size: medium;">  </span><span style="font-size: medium;">Marie had a large circle of friends and will be missed by them all.</span><span style="font-size: medium;">   </span><span style="font-size: medium;">She is predeceased by her parents William and Marjorie McCarthy; step-father Frank Bennett; sisters Maude Gallant and Patricia Shaw; her brother Russell McCarthy; and her niece Deborah McCarthy. Marie’s family would like to thank the staff of 2 South at the Corner Brook Long Term Care facility.</span><span style="font-size: medium;">  </span><span style="font-size: medium;">Thank you to all her many friends who have supported her and her family, and a special thank you to Julia Myles who visited and read to Marie so often during her stay at the facility. Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Curling on Tuesday, February 6</span><sup><span style="font-size: small;">th</span></sup><span style="font-size: medium;">, at 10:30am. with Father Jim Robertson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations will be graciously accepted to the Corner Brook Children’s Wish Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
