Obituary of Paul Caines

Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father, Paul Caines on Sunday, May 23 at the age of 61. He was the rock of the family. Paul was born on May 18, 1960 and lived in Bartlett's Harbour, a community that he loved, where he raised his family. He had two great loves, his family and the sea. He was a captain through and through and he was a fisherman his entire life. Paul was a strong advocate in his community and in the fishing community, always lending a hand where needed and striving to help others without expecting anything in return.

Paul had the gift to always bring a smile to your face, whether with a story or a joke, he just loved to make people laugh and his personality drew people in. He was simply the best to the ones who loved him, and he always thought of others before himself.

Family was the most important role in his life. His profound love for his girls and his grandkids were second to none. He was a dedicated son, father, grandfather, partner, brother, uncle and friend. Paul was a prime example that good still exists in the world. He will be tremendously missed by all who knew him.

He is predeceased by his daddy Raymond Caines, and his bestest best buddy David Myers. Leaving to mourn his mom Regina Caines, his daughters Paula, Alice (Chris) and Gina (Jordie), his grandkids Kaitlyn, Noah, Taylor, Luke and Jordan Paul. His brothers and sisters, Marie (Percy), Justine (Warren), Raymond (Cindy), Richard (Marlene), Cletus (Lesley), Lewis (Geraldine), Ben (Kathy), Jeannie (Shawn), and Dom as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Special family member Susan, his stepdaughters Monique (Gary) and Nancy, special buddies Cletus Jr, Kyle, Logan, and Mason. Special family member Lynn, her kids Hilary (Robert), Heidi and Andrew, and her grandkids Penelope and Jack. As well as a large circle of family and friends.

Visitation will take place at Sacred Heart Church in Bartlett's Harbour, Newfoundland on Wednesday, June 9 and Thursday, June 10 with the family service at 7:00 p.m. In compliance with Covid-19 Government regulations face masks and social distancing required. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 11 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ricardo Rossi officiating to a maximum of 100 people. Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemtery, Bartlett's Harbour.

Farewell Skipper Paul Caines; May the skies be blue and seas be calm as you sail into eternity.

When I come to the end of the horizon
And enter the other shore,
Remember me with fondness
Cry for me no more
I have found my final resting place,
that special spot to fish
Remember the times that we shared,
You too, I will miss.
This is the journey I must take,
and I must go alone.
Know that my heart is with you,
as I take this journey home.
Remember me with fondness
this is not goodbye,
It is, “Till we meet again“
at the ocean in the sky.
