Passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at his residence, John Mullins at the age of 75 years. John had a long distinguished career with Bowater’s Ltd and present day Kruger. The last three years of his career with Kruger were spent working in Disley, England, which is very dear to his heart. He was Chairman of the Board for Western Memorial Regional Hospital for many years, as well as the Roman Catholic Dioceace of Western Newfoundland. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his wife: Christine; children: Michael (Cavell) and Michelle (Sheldon); very special grandchildren: Stephanie, Stacey, Sara and Emily; sister: Theresa (Royce) Getson, Nova Scotia; brothers-in-law: Neil and Bob MacDonnell; sisters-in-law: Marcella, Julia, Anne and Mary; his special canine friend, Molson; as well as extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Margaret; brothers, Brian and Joseph; mother and father-in-law: Florence and Peter MacDonnell and brother-in-law: Father Angus MacDonnell. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Marks Avenue on Wednesday, 7-9:00 p.m. and Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 26th at 10:30 A.M. from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mt. Bernard Avenue, officiated by Father Edwin Gale. Cremation to follow at Humber Valley Crematorium. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Newfoundland and Labrador Heart and Stroke Foundation or to The Shepherd’s Fund in care of the Most Holy Redeemer.
