It is with heavy hearts that the family of Rita Courtney announce her sudden passing at Calder Health Care centre on Thursday, June 17, 2021. Rita was pre-deceased by her parents Evangeline and Benjamin Anderson; her husband Charles Courtney; her sons Levi and Sidney; daughter Vivian; her brothers Thomas, Norman, Walter and Leonard and her sisters Mary and Elsie.

Rita's meek & mild spirit will be so dearly missed by all who knew her and though her demeanour was gentle she was a strong woman who endured and conquered much in her 96 years. Rita had such a bashful and shy character but still possess her wittiness and subtle humour. Her sweet smile was contagious and warm the hearts of those around her. Her strong faith reflected in her loving welcoming arms. Rita's beautiful presence will be treasured and missed by everyone who loved her. She leaves to mourn her children Eileen, Florence (Vernon), Maxwell (Blanche), Jessie, Clayton, Audrey (Dave),  Kenneth , Jerry, Mary (Dexter), Robert (Norma), Christina (Mick), grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grand children as well as a large circle of family and friends. Visitation to take place Friday, June 18 at 7pm at the Faith United Church . Funeral service will take place in Burgeo Sunday, June 20 at 2pm at the Faith United Church. Interment of cremains held at a later date. Keeping with Government restrictions, Mask and physical distancing requried.
