Mildred Corbett

Stephenville Crossing, NL

Sept. 16, 1928 – July 3, 2021

It is with profound sadness that the family of Mildred Corbett of Stephenville Crossing announce her passing at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Saturday July 3, 2021 in her 92nd year.

She Leaves behind with a multitude of precious memories her six children:  Sons: Dom (Pam) Rosthern, SK, Joe, Wabumin, AB, Jerome (Hee Jung) Labrador City, Darwin (Jackie) Moncton, NB, Daughters: Marlie (Loyola Crawley) Stephenville Crossing and Natalie (Paul Brennan) Stephenville Crossing.  Grandchildren: Jennifer (Kevin Brooks), Ryan Corbett, Dawn (Des Hiscock), Evan Crawley (Sherri Lee), Preston Corbett (Marianne), Tanner Corbett, Jordan Brennan (Caley), Cody Brennan (Nadine), Chas Corbett, Cashe Corbett, Kenneth Muise (Marsha), Nikita Green.  Eleven great grand-children. Sisters:  Hariett Gallant, London, ON, Jean Gosse, St. John’s, NL, Audrey Stokes (Gordon) CBS, NL, Brother: Alcide Madore (Nellie) Dartmouth, NS, Brother-in-law Dominic Corbett (Mary) Holyrood, NL and Sister-in-law Mary Corbett, St. John’s, NL as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Jack Corbett, her parents Alcide and Mary Madore, Brothers: Joe Madore and Austin Madore and Sister Reda Lewis.

Mom was a gently woman, she didn’t get mad often, but she kept a firm hand, and as her children, we knew “the look”.  Her faith was very strong and she believed in the power of prayer.  She enjoyed a little knitting in her pastime and truly loved a game of 120’s, although not very good at it, she never turned down a chance to play.

As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

The family would like to extend their most heartfelt thanks to Dr. McComiskey, Dr. Dwyer and especially the nursing staff on Medicine at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital who made mom’s last days most comfortable.  Your compassion and dedication to mom will not be forgotten.  And of course, to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, a big thank you for your professionalism.

The Funeral Mass will take place at Assumption Parish in Stephenville Crossing on Monday, July 5th at 11:00 am with interment to follow at the Brook Street Cemetery.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing, NL.
