Michael Joseph Young

Stephenville Crossing, NL

July 26, 1946 – July 8, 2021

It is with great sadness the family of Michael Joseph Young announce his passing at Bay St. George Long Term Care Center in Stephenville Crossing on July 8, 2021 at 74 years.  Leaving to mourn his daughters:  Michele (Tony) Sharpe, Camelia Young, Amanda Young, Heidi Young and Mya (Jason) Bradshaw, his son Martin (Terri) Young, his grandchildren:  Gage Alexander, Valerie Young, J.R. Young, Ashley Young and Maddison Bradshaw, his brothers: James (Susan), Francis, Richard, and Alphonses (Taralee), his sisters: Betty (Ed) Oakley, Linda Young, and Claudia Cassidy. He was predeceased by his wife Dianne Elizabeth Young (Nee Colombe), his parents Edward and Josephine Young, his brothers Roy Young and Calvin Young along with his granddaughter Natasha Young.

He was a man that worked hard for this family.  He enjoyed working as the janitor at the schools in St. George’s for 33 years.  He made many friends of co-workers and students.  He resided as a resident at Bay St. George Long Term Care Center for the past 10 years of his life.  He made many friends of the staff and residents at that facility as well. 

Michael enjoyed wild life, especially the Canada Geese and Guinea Fowl he raised for many years.  May he fly with them now.

There are no words that can express our heartfelt gratitude to all the staff, co-workers and friends at The Bay St. George Long Term Care Center.  You are all special Angels.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home in Stephenville Crossing, NL
