December 20, 1924 – July 15, 2021

It is with great sadness the family of Hubert Lucas announce his passing at Bay St. George Long Term Care Center in Stephenville Crossing on July 15, 2021 at 96 years.  Leaving to mourn his 7 Children:

Cornelius (Martha) Lucas, Stephenville Crossing, Emma (Mike) O’Connor, Chilliwack, BC, Toby Lucas, Stephenville, Carm (Norm) Ward, Newmarket, ON, Judy Lucas, Stephenville Crossing, Bertha Lucas-Jeans, St. John’s, NL, Gordon (Lynda) Kelly, Mexico, his 13 Grandchildren, 19 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, his Brother Reginald Lucas, Stephenville Crossing, Sister Marina Lesofski Colorado, USA and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Lucas (nee Kelly), his parents Abraham and Irene Lucas, his brothers: Abraham, Anthony, Willie, Eve and Alcid, his sisters: Mary, Dot, Rita, Kathleen and Veronica.

Hubert worked at many jobs during his 96 years, including plumbing, the vocational school, contractor, cutting power lines, fixing furnaces, etc.  He loved Bingo and a good game of Crib or 120’s and loved to “cheat” at cards.  He learned to use a computer in his early 80’s and loved to read the world news and play solitaire on his “TV” as he used to call it.

We would like to share our heartfelt gratitude to all the staff and friends at The Bay St. George Long Term Care Center for your loving care shown to our father during his time there.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home in Stephenville Crossing, NL.

The Funeral Mass will be held at Assumption Parish, Stephenville Crossing, NL on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Edmund Dantes officiating.
