March 9, 1934 – July 17, 2021

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Pennell, at the Western Long Term Care Palliative Unit on Saturday, July 17^th at the age of 87 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, sons, Clarence (Tina), McIvers, Peter (Yolanda), Benoit’s Cove, grandchildren, Jonathon (Paula), Stephen, Renee, Chloe (Tyler) and Annie, great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Alexia and Lucas, as well as a circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Lorne Pennell, parents, Clarence and Hannah Matthews, sisters, Harriet Adderly and Mildred Sheppard, and brothers, George Matthews and Seward Scott. The family would like to thank Dr. Kim Gunson for many years of care she provided to Mom, and a special thank you to all the doctors and nurses at the Palliative Care Unit. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Thank you to the staff of Bayshore Estates where she resided for the last six years. God Bless you all! There will be no visitation at this time. Cremation has taken place. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Mark’s Avenue on Monday, July 19^th at 1 P.M.  with Rev. Terry Loder officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
