Lawrence Claude Rideout

Stephenville Crossing, NL

May 30, 1988 – Sept. 1, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of the Late Lawrence (LORAN) Rideout mourn his passing on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021 at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville, NL at the age of 33 years.  Loran lost his brave battle with Cancer, but not without leaving his mark and lasting memories with many people.

Leaving to celebrate his life are his mom and dad Judy & Jamie Rideout; brothers:  Steven (Acadiana), Cody; niece Elliana; nephew Emerson; like his second parents aunt Elaine & uncle Scott Southwell; paternal grandparents: Ernie Alexander & Genny King, Ada & Hector Rideout; aunts & uncles:  Mary (Ken), Sheilah (David), Johnny, Gerard, Charles, Craig, Maurice (Catherine); his special love of a little guy in his life Elliot; his best buddy Joey as well as many other relatives and friends.

Loran is pre-deceased by his brother Thomas; maternal grandparents Mary Young, Thomas Belvin, Jerry Simon; uncle Mark; his special cousin, who was more like his brother, Chad Southwell.

Loran was particularly proud of the experiences, close friendships and lasting memories he made in his years as a military son that lived in so many different places.  He was very proud of his father and his accomplishments of which he and his brothers were always a huge part of.

Loran had a wide range of interests which included fishing, motor cross, quadding and hunting.  He was a very athletic person who enjoyed playing hockey baseball, football, snowboarding, wakeboading, basically any sport.

Loran was a kind hearted person with strong family ties.  He would do anything for anyone.  The most important things in Loran’s life was his bond with his brothers and his friendships.  They all knew they could count on him to be there no matter what.  He appreciated life to the fullest and loved the beauty of his home Newfoundland.

Following his wishes, cremation will take place after the viewing.  The viewing and visitation will be on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021 between the hours of 4:30 and 7:00 p.m. at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing, NL.  The Funeral Mass will be held at Assumption Parish, Stephenville Crossing, NL on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Edmund Dantes officiating.

The family extends their sincere thanks to family and friends who have reached out to offer their support and prayers for Loran.  Thank you to the staff of Western health and the special ladies of Shea’s Pharmacy for their compassion and care during Loran’s illness and hospital stay.

As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the family,  knowing the great need during the most difficult time in a persons life they would like to purchase items to aid in the comfort of families for the chemo and palliative care units of Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital.

Please join the family on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. for a Celebration of Life.  The location will be announced via facebook.  Weather permitting.
