Mike Kelly
July 21, 1955 - September 14, 2021
It is with deep regret that the family of the late Mike Kelly announce his peaceful passing, surrounded by his family, on September 14, 2021 at the age of 66 years after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Left to mourn with broken hearts and precious memories are his loving wife & life partner of 45 years, Kay; his two daughters who he was infinitely proud of, Jennifer (Josh) & Ann-Marie (Trevor); the lights of his life, his two granddaughters, Scarlett & Sadie; and his furry friend, Buddy; his siblings Sharon (Bruce), Grace (Lowie), Nick, Josephine (George), & Patricia. Mike also leaves behind a large circle of nieces, nephews, in-laws, neighbours and friends.
Mike was predeceased by his mother and father, Annie & Jack Kelly; his brother, Cyril; and his brother-in-law, Brian Park.
Mike was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbour and friend. He was known for his warm, jolly and welcoming demeanor. He loved to have a laugh and his laugh left a lasting impression on anyone who was lucky enough to have heard it. He loved his family fiercely and loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. Of all of his titles, Poppy was surely his favorite. He enjoyed a simple lifestyle and his favorite things included fishing and watching sports. He was a talented painter and plasterer and was known for the quality of his work all over the west coast of Newfoundland. Mike had a kindness and compassion towards animals, which was truly admirable.
A special thanks to Jacki, Beulah, Chris, Rhonda, Lisa and the many other phenomenal nurses who helped us along the way.
In keeping with Mike’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private service for close family and friends will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral home on St. Mark’s Avenue, Corner Brook. No flowers by request of the family. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to NL West SPCA to honor Mike’s love and adoration for animals.
