Prior to the onset of dementia, Dorothy led a rich and full life. She was born in Rose Blanche, NL on May 26, 1920. It was there that she met and married her late husband Wilson in 1939. Following the birth of their first child, they relocated to Corner Brook where Wilson eventually owned and operated the West Coast Bakery. She, however, was the true backbone of the family, providing him with all the love and support needed to raise their family while he built a highly successful family business. They both enjoyed the outdoors and spent many summer days cruising the Bay of Islands or relaxing at their retreat in Pollard’s Point. Once retired, they lived their dream of travelling the world, following which they spent their winters basking in the warmth of Barbados. Her visits to Barbados continued until her battle with dementia made travelling impossible.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of 3 North, Corner Brook Long Term Care, for their continued compassion and professionalism. Despite the many demands of their jobs, they always found time to provide our cherished mother with such genuine love, care, and attention. A special note of gratitude is extended to those who welcomed her to the center in 2016 and have been by her side since that time. You will not be forgotten.
