Obituary of Sharon Gaye Wiseman

Please share a memory of Sharon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of Sharon Gaye Wiseman (nee Colbourne) announce her tragic passing on October 2nd, 2021 at Lake Melville Hospital in Happy Valley/Goose Bay at the age of 59 following her courageous battle with cancer.

Sharon was a nurturing and caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She will always be lovingly remembered by her husband of 31 years, James Wiseman; step-daughters, Kristy Wiseman (Joel Broomfield) and Lindsay Wiseman; son, Jonathan Wiseman (Caitlin Sharp); grandchildren, Leland Lyall, Madison Sham and James Wiseman.

Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Maxwell Colbourne and Violet Colbourne. She also leaves behind her brother, Sheldon Colbourne. She was born in Red Bay on February 25th, 1962 and spent an enjoyable childhood in Robert’s Arm. Some of her fondest memories consisted of the times she returned with her parents to Red Bay, and those where she was enjoying the company of her countless friends and family members scattered throughout the province.  When she became ill she took great comfort and joy in returning to Red Bay to embrace valuable time with her relatives.

Sharon will be remembered for her sincere desire to truly enrich the lives of others. Even in her own struggles with cancer she was always devastated to learn of others who were going through their own battles with illness.  She would always reach out to offer whatever comfort and support she could to those dealing with their own struggles. Her life was enriched and rewarded generously through the births of her grandchildren. They were her greatest joy to whom she provided her unconditional love and affection.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre and Lake Melville Hospital who provided care throughout Sharon’s battle.  Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions those wishing to join us in our celebration of her life must have their name and contact number added to a fifty person maximum attendee list.  This list will have to be submitted to Reverend Blackwood on Thursday October 7th. If you wish to attend the service to be held for Sharon on Saturday, October 9th at 2 pm in the United Church please call or text Kristy at (709-897-7234).  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Sharon’s name are asked to consider Daffodil Place.
