Karl Cecil Layden
August 4, 1958 – October 1, 2021
Corner Brook, NL
It is with great sadness the family of the late Karl Layden announce his passing at the Health Science Centre at the age of 63 years on October 1st, 2021. Karl was largely known in the community for his love of sales, having his own businesses for his entire adult life. He often told stories of how he got started by selling snacks out of a wagon at the ripe age of 8, and he never stopped having sales as a large part of his life. His family and friends spent many gatherings and get together listening to him playing the accordion, a self taught skill. Karl was known by many as a kind soul who loved life, and his 5 girls (as he called us) were everything to him. He leaves to mourn with loving memories his wife of 41 years Coreina, his two daughters Michelle (Blaine), Melissa (Steve), his two granddaughters Emma and Cassie, and his fur babies Willow and Blossom. He also leaves brothers Frank (Brenda), Fred (Wanda), Hayward (Donna), Darrell, Gary (Paulette), and sister Darlene (Ray), and a large circle of nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters in law, and friends, as well as special friend Shawn Young. He was predeceased by his sister Verna Sandor, parents Cecil and Catherine Layden. A very special thank you to the Doctors, nurses and staff of the ICU, Western Memorial Regional Hospital and the Health Science Centre. A private family visitation for immediate family will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 6 at 10:30 a.m. from Humber United Church, Clarence Street with Rev. Jocelyn Cook officiating. Due to limited compacity the funeral service will be by invitation only. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any local animal rescue organization.
