Frederick Thomas Fitzgerald
St. George’s, NL
August 7, 1938 - October 21, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Frederick Thomas Fitzgerald (Aka: Tuck) announce his passing at his family home in St. George’s, NL on October 21, 2021 at the age of 83 years. He was pre-deceased by his parents (Frederick & Phyllis), his sons Brian, Keith, & Paul; his siblings Paul, Patsy, & Sharron, and far too many other loved ones.
He will be missed and forever remembered by his wife of 60 years, Margie; Children: Karen (Wayne), Kevin, Donna (Paul), Brenda (Corey), Gloria, Paul (Pinky); Grandchildren: Corey, Cole, Rica, Frederick, April & Jordan; Sisters: Janet and Heather (Bob); Brother: Keith (Margie); Sister-in-law Gloria; many Nieces & Nephews; and a large circle of friends. Special mention to Hilary, Tony, Melvin & Gary.
Tucker was born at St. Clare's Hospital in St. John’s, spent his younger years on Bell Island, and as a young man he moved to Labrador City where, on Valentines Day, he met the love of his life Margie. Together they laid roots in the beautiful Town of St. George’s, raised a family, and loved every moment of their 60 year journey. He loved his work as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic and made many friends along the way. He loved to play and watch sports, especially Hockey, and he always said “I know I’m not perfect, But at least I’m not a Montreal Canadiens fan” (lol). And for all who knew him, knew that he took his love of boxing with him everywhere he went. He was a “Hard Case” but still he was loved beyond measure and he will be deeply missed by everyone, especially his family.
In the depths of our sorrow, It is heart wrenching that we can’t give Dad the send off he truly deserves. But we believe the Roman Catholic cemetery on Courthouse Rd is big enough that we can come together and at the same time respect social distancing and do our part to keep each other safe from the horrors of COVID. So We welcome you to Stand by the fence. We welcome you to Stand by another gravesite. We would be honoured if you would Stand with us as we say our final goodbye.
The funeral service will be held in St. George’s on October 26, 2021 at 10 AM with Father Edmund Dantes officiating.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Tucker’s memory to the Southwest coast – SPCA.
