Claudine was born in Cape St. Charles, Labrador in 1935 to Ida (Stone) and George Pye. As the oldest girl of seven children, she learned early on how to cook, bake, make do and make the best of what you had. She moved to Curling with her family and met the love of her life, Gerald Barnes. They married in 1956 and had a family who loved them dearly.
Mom and Dad loved to travel NL fishing, berry picking, camping and trying out every restaurant they could. They started camping in Birchy Narrows in the 80’s, where they met many, many lifelong friends. Even after Dad passed in 2003, Mom continued camping there until 2015. She also attended her TOPS Meeting from 1972 until 2019 with all her TOPS Sisters who she loved with all her heart.
