“With the Lord”

It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Byrne announce her passing at the Palliative Care Unit of Western Long Term Care at the age of 84. Leaving to mourn with loving memories her five children,  Pauline, Faye (late James Hyland), Wanda (Robert) Strickland, Helen and Gerry (Lana); seven grandchildren: Craig Russell (Melanie), Jessica Russell, Kim Hyland (Lauren), Amy Hyland (Kurt), Curtis Byrne (Katie), Abby Byrne (Anderson) and Chris Strickland; six great grandchildren: Shaina White, Jayme Bennett, Luke and Liam Russell, Trent and Jack Vincent; brothers and sisters: late Florence & Garfield Hickman, Harold (late Grace) Sheppard, late Gerald Sheppard (Marina), late Eric Sheppard, Catherine (late Bud Bourgeois) Larry, Roy (Madonna) Sheppard, George (Hazel) Sheppard, late Barbara Gilbert (Terry), Ivan Sheppard, as well as a very large circle of in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Gerald Byrne, parents Noble & Jessie (nee: Wheeler) Sheppard. With Mom no one was a stranger and her generosity made all feel welcome. Her love extended to all but family was extra special. She wanted them always by her side. She was well known for her many years at Byrne’s Store – a business her and Dad built while raising five children. Many thanks to the nurses of the dialysis unit who cared for Mom over the last fourteen years. Also, a grateful thanks to her care workers-especially Glen, Pam and Joanne who were with her until the end. We wouldn’t have been able to care for her without you. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home 4 St. Marks Avenue, Sunday December 5th from 1-2 pm. VaxPass, Identification and masks are required for entry.
