George Joseph Boljkovac

April 15, 1936 – Dec. 13, 2021 

Corner Brook, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late George Boljkovac announce his passing after a brief illness at the age of 85 years.

He leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 58 years, Margaret and 2 children; Alison (Dave ) Alexander and Danny (Amy ) Boljkovac as well as his cherished grandson Michael Boljkovac and step-granddaughter  Danna (Brad) Padvaiskas.

He will be greatly missed by brother-in-law Ronald Rumbolt and sister-in-law Mary Madore. As well, nieces: Carolyn (Dr. Tony ) Tavenor, Karen (Scott) Wear, Susan (Darrell) Ford, Kim Peitchinis, Kathy (Dr. Kim) Parlett and nephews: Craig (Maria Cristina) Boljkovac, Chris (Catherine) Boljkovac, Greg (Noeleen) Rumbolt and Dr. Brian (Aileen) Rumbolt  who all have wonderful memories of their Uncle George. Also missed by many great-nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors both near and far.

He was predeceased by his parents George and Mary Boljkovac and brother Dr. Nicholas Boljkovac. Also predeceased by his father and mother-in-law Sidney and Matilda Rumbolt, brothers-in-law Sidney Jr Rumbolt, Douglas Madore, Ralph Rumbolt and sisters-in-law Evelyn Rumbolt, Jean Rumbolt, Peg Rumbolt, and Pearl Boljkovac-Shadney.

Many will recall George, who was born in Schumacher, Ontario, came to Corner Brook to play hockey with the Corner Brook Royals. He got a job at CBC, met Margaret and the rest is history.

Cremation has taken place. Special thanks to the Physicians and staff at Western Memorial Regional Hospital and Western Palliative Care for your exceptional care and support of George and our family.

Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Marks Ave on Dec. 16, 2021 from 7-9 pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday Dec 17, 2021 at 10 am at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Ave with Father Edward Terry officiating. Interment to follow at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to Holy Redeemer Parish or to NL West SPCA.
