We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our Mom in her 75th year after a lengthy battle with Lewy Body Dementia she leaves to mourn her children Robert (Kay Blair) Tim (Cathy Neville) her grandchildren Ricki Lee, Tyler, Danielle and Jacob and her siblings Edie Turner, Leslie White, Mary Lachance, Melinda (George)Hillier, Lennie White and sisters in- law Linda Sweeney and Vanetta White and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years Robert Matthews (Feb 26 2021) & grandson Philip Matthews also her parents Alexander & Philomena White, parents- in- law Fred & Madeline Matthews and her siblings, Kevin (Winnie)White, Roy (Greta) White, Herman White Barbara (Johnny)Young, Alma Watts, Cecilia “Sis” Mendenhall, Marina (Alphonsus) White sister-in-law Carol White and Judy White. Mom was born and raised in Stephenville she was the youngest of 18 siblings. Mom and Dad met while Dad was doing work on the Air Force base and boarding at her parent’s house eventually, they married and moved to Corner Brook to live and raise us two boys. Family was everything to Mom and as far back as I can remember we always spent just about every weekend of fall and winter in Stephenville visiting family and most weekends in summer was spent camping. When the we got older Mom went to work at Dominion stores where she continued to work until her retirement. Through the years Mom enjoyed playing darts and was involved with several teams and in later years she looked forward to her weekly card games with friends. Mom always had a smile and loved to do what she could for you. Mom was always the one that kept us all on the straight and narrow (especially Dad) and most importantly she was always there for us. During the course of this terrible disease the tables turned and we became the ones that were there for her and we did our best to keep her feeling safe and loved until the end. After many years of torment, she is finally at peace. We would like to extend a special thank you to Dr Robert O’Driscoll and the staff on 3 South at Corner Brook LTC especially Jodi Burt, Mellissa Beales, Connie Watson, Lori Costello, Debbie Diamond, Glenys Park and her dietitian Juanita Brewer and her recreation worker June Crewe for the wonderful care and compassion given to our Mom. "If Roses Grow in Heaven"

If roses grow in heaven,

Lord please pick a bunch for me,

place them in my mother's arms

and tell her I love her and miss her,

and when she turns to smile,

place a kiss upon her cheek

and hold her for awhile.

Because remembering her is easy,

I do it every day, but there's an ache

within my my heart that will

never go away.
