Louise Shirley Christopher (nee Gillam)
A special soul, Louise (Lou) Christopher, passed peacefully on the morning of December 16, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. While many hearts are heavy with indescribable sadness, they too are filled with overwhelming joy and pride for the life she lived, for the love she shared, for the beautiful person she was. May her soul rest peacefully as she is reunited with those family and friends who passed before her. May God hold her in His tender and everlasting care. Louise will be loved eternally by her family, who thought the world of her, including her loving daughter Wendy, son-in-law Osvaldo, and four year old grandson, Osvaldo Jr. (Ozzy).
She is predeceased by her husband, Edwin (Eddie) Christopher, who passed in 2014, to whom she was married for 40 years.
Also left behind to mourn her passing and to celebrate her life are her sisters, Janet Pardy and Claudia Burlingham, and brothers David Gillam (Dale) and George Gillam (Cora). Her sisters-in-law Thelma Dunphy and Elizabeth (Betty) Payne (George), Christina Christopher and Barbara Gillam. Louise's passing will be deeply felt by both her immediate family as well a large circle of nieces and nephews, other relatives, as well as members of her son-in law's family.
She is predeceased by her mother and father, Louisa Gillam and Walter Gillam, as well as her siblings Bernice Gillam, Wilfred Gillam, Alice Suley, and Doreen Disk, brothers-in-law Terrence Dunphy, Frederick Jr. (June) Christopher, Malcolm (Macky) Christopher, Dermot Christopher, Mike Urbenz, David Pardy, and sisters-in-law Florence Christopher and Ramona (Mona) Urbenz. She was also predeceased by her nephews John Gillam and Blaine Christopher, and niece Juanita Brake.
We are appreciative for everything she has done for us, and all she has selflessly given to make our lives better. We are truly grateful for her amazing gifts of unwavering support and unconditional love. Louise embodied many desirable attributes, too many to mention here. Most notably, her ability to love unconditionally, her humility, selflessness, compassion, kindness, generosity, sense of humour, all which will be missed.
A very special thank you to Louise's sister-in-law, Gloria Christopher, who has shown steadfast support and care throughout her journey, ensuring she experienced laughter, joy, company, support, love, friendship and quality of life.
Family would also like to thank the attentive and caring staff at Lohnes Complex where Louise resided since 2018. She had many great experiences there, feeling that it was home. Warm thanks are also extended to innumerable doctors, nurses, and support staff for their excellent care and compassion at Western Memorial Regional Hospital.
Fillatres Funeral Home has been commissioned with Louise's final arrangements. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service to commemorate her life will be held at a later date.
