It is with great sadness that the family of the late John (Johnnie) Hynes announce his passing on December 18, 2021, at Labrador Health Center at the age of 88. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his children: John (Dayna), Cynthia (Patrick), Trevor (Tracey); grandchildren: Cody, Shane, Alicia, William, Cassandra, Jenna, Maria; brothers: Fred (Thelma) Hynes, Howard Hynes Jr., and sister Phyllis (Roy) Walsh, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.

John was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Betty) Hynes, daughter Edith Marie, parents Howard and Angela Hynes, brother Kevin Hynes and sisters-in-law Evelyn Hynes and Josephine Hynes.

Visitation will take place at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Happy Valley-Goose Bay on Monday, December 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Roman Catholic Church in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. As per the families wishes, cremation is set to take place after the funeral service, with burial taking place at a later date. Following Covid-19 regulations, masks and proof of vaccination will be required for entry into the funeral home and church.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank-you” to the nurses and staff at Labrador health center. As expressions of sympathy, donations in John’s memory may be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador.
