Jack Taylor
July 5, 1926 – December 22, 2021
Jack Taylor died peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of December 22, 2021. He leaves behind his granddaughter Christine Demers (Steve), great-grandson Matthew and son-in-law Steve Bookman all from Ottawa, Ontario. He is predeceased by his loving wife Betty Taylor and daughter Myrna Bookman. He will be missed by his siblings, Doris, Clifton (Cynthia), Jim (Edna), Lillian, sisters-in-law Doreen, Shirley and Brenda and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by his parents, Rhoda and Freeman, brothers Alton, Fred, Loren, Wallace and Austin, sisters Olive and June, brothers-in-law Les, Gilbert, Clayton, and Llewellyn, and sisters-in-law Ella, and Ena.
Jack was a quiet man who left the island in 1951 to work and raise his family in Toronto. He worked hard for nearly 50 years – he never shyed away from a hard days work. He retired back in Summerside, Newfoundland and continued working hard around the house and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He always enjoyed “the meetings” across the road in Taylor’s cove and bingo and card games with many friends and family.
Special thanks to Linda Miller who looked after him when he returned to Newfoundland in the summer of 2019.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Kathleen Wiseman and the entire staff at the Western Long Term Care facility for the kindness and love they showed during his time there especially during his last few weeks of life.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held in the summer.
