Edna Rowena Colbourne

Corner Brook, NL

It is with heavy hearts and immense sadness that the family of the late Edna Rowena Colbourne announce her passing on December 30, 2021, at the age of 80. Leaving to mourn with loving memories are son, Brent (Giselle - and their beloved dog Bella that Edna adored) Guinchard; son, Bill (Debra) Guinchard and daughter, Carolann  (Maurizio Cimini) Guinchard, and grandsons Ethan and Andrew Guinchard. Sisters: Bernice (Leighton) Patey, Mabel (Norm) Tiller and Mary (Garfield) Compton. Sisters-in-Law: Patricia Colbourne, Betty Colbourne, Madeline (Bob Rooksby), Marguerite (Peter Whelan) and Veronica (Ray Hickey), Theresa Joyce, Fran Joyce and Janet Joyce. Brothers-in-Law: Percy (Rose), William (Linda), Kevin, Norbert (Judy) and Eddie (Heather). Along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends that loved her dearly. Edna was predeceased by her partner and best friend Patrick Joyce, parents Tom and Cassie Colbourne and her brothers Willie (Patricia) Colbourne and Ernest (Betty) Colbourne. She was also predeceased by Brothers-in-Law, Greg (Fran) Joyce, Bern (Janet) Joyce, Rod Joyce and Nicholas Joyce.

Edna was a fiercely independent person. She had a quick wit, and loved a little friendly debate. She was a generous and loyal friend, and her door was always open to friend and stranger alike. Whether it was over a cup of tea and a chat, or an hours long game of cards, nobody enjoyed a good laugh like she did; and she was typically the first to get the joke. She was always curious, but never judgmental. Her motto was “you be you.” She was loved by all and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

A service of remembrance will take place on Friday, January 7th, 2022 at 10 Am from Fillatre's Funeral Home Chapel, 4 St. Marks Avenue to a maximum of 50 people.
