John Oscar Colson
Shallop Cove, Nl
December 2, 1951 - December 30, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Colson of Shallop Cove, originally of Sandy Point, announce his passing at the Palliative Care Centre in Corner Brook, after a hard and aggressive battle with cancer, at the age of 70 years.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his son Johnny (Holly) Colson; daughters Patti (Claude) Colson and Skylar Hawkins; stepson; Stephen (Angela) Hawkins; grandsons; Ethan, Sterling, Noah, Carter and granddaughters Chloe, Lacie, Hailey and Scarlett; siblings Fred (Dale) Colson, Percy (Chris) Colson, Kenny (Ruby) Colson, Carolyn (Stan) Lucas, Elaine Edmonds and Bev (Cory) Colson and also his two beloved fur babies Jenna and Maggie.
He was predeceased by his parents Bob and Marjorie Colson and brother Calvin Colson.
Dad was an active man throughout his life. As a young man he enjoyed fast cars and making money, then settled for a ford truck and children. He worked hard all his life to provide for his family. He loved going for bike rides and exploring the wilderness, never spent a moment sitting until in the evening when he enjoyed relaxing in his shed with his coffee and smoke, which he tried so many times to quit. He was a great dad who played the role of mother and father and managed to keep us all fed and from hurting each other, all while keeping his house spotless. Always had words of wisdom and had no problem letting us know when we did something foolish. He will be forever loved and missed by all.
Special thanks to: the Palliative Care Team in Corner Brook, who went beyond any expectation to help our entire family while dad was at home and there, The Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre, Daffodil Place, St. George's Pharmacy, Qalipu First Nation, The Community Health Care Team and his home care worker Robin Muise who dad loved and made sure we knew how clean she kept everything. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Daffodil Centre in St. Johns or a charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing, NL.
