I have known Tim at Yamaha for a long time, even before we had started YMFCA finance, when were still dealing with our various finance partners. He was a very friendly fellow, ready to respond to questions when we used to contact him via phone and later on via e-mail.
He was an affable person, always smiling, particularly when I got to meet him at meetings at the head office (where he always appeared very smart in his Yamaha DSM “uniform”) and occasionally when he got to join us at social gatherings in Toronto. I always joked with him about joining him for a sampling of Newfoundland lobsters and he always gave a big laugh whenever I said that, because of his location, which we didn’t really have a chance to visit. However, there was one January day when he did favour us with a taste, not of lobster, but of a sumptuous buffet lunch, which he hosted (together with another DSM) for Sales Support and the Credit Staff (via long distance), at the Mandarin Restaurant in Woodbine.
In more recent years, he seemed to be always there, our man on the “Rock”, keeping on the job with Yamaha dealers who had become his long-time friends, among them long-standing as well as newer owners (the older ones having retired). As always, he was ready to respond to our queries on accounts, particularly new prospects, and sometimes dealers on which we had concerns. Sometimes, he would also politely ask us about new prospects and we would respond to the extent allowed under our policies, and he would always respect those policies, particularly on privacy.
His untimely passing was totally unexpected, as with the passage of time and his enduring presence in Yamaha, I saw him as indomitable as the “Rock”. But of course, everything and everyone has his or her allotted time, and unfortunately, that time, for him, is now. I (and I think we at Yamaha), therefore, with heavy hearts, say goodbye to our dear friend and Yamaha companion; He will be sadly missed by us, but never forgotten.
I also wish to extend my (and my wife’s) sincerest condolences to his family, relatives and friends, as well as prayers for Tim’s eternal repose.
