(Ida) Shirley Doody
September 10, 1937 – January 09, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Doody on January 09, 2022 at Western Long Term Care Palliative Care Unit at the age of 84 years. We are going to miss her pleasant laughter, her beautiful smile and her positive attitude for the future.
Shirley will be remembered and loved by her 4 children, Sandra Rideout (Jim) in Pasadena, Bruce (Jacquie), Wasaga Beach, Ontario, Aiden (Mavis) in Gander and Chris (Jennifer), Calgary, Alberta.
She is survived by her 3 sisters, June Tobin, Jean Peddle, Doris Waldron (Fred) and her 3 brothers, Donald Park, Chesley Park (Vera), Bruce Park (Judy) and her sister-in-law Shirley Park, along with 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, extended grandchildren and great-grandchildren from the Burton family and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents John and Rosella Park, the father of her children Gerald Doody, brothers Gerald, Larry, Bert and sister Joan, brothers-in-law Arch Peddle and Fred Tobin and sister-in-law Audrey Park.
The family would like to thank all those who phoned, sent cards of encouragement and provided meals at this difficult time. Special thanks to the compassionate and professional care from the many Doctors, Nurses and staff at Western Palliative Care. We won’t mention names because it would be impossible to list everyone.
In compliance with Shirley’s wishes, she will be cremated with a memorial service on Zoom at a date to be announced later. If you wish to attend, please contact any family member for details. Interment will take place later this year at the Pasadena Cemetery of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Shirley expressed herself many times while in the hospital that one day she would go into a deep sleep and wake up in paradise and not be sick anymore, her hope is based on John 5:28,29 and John Chapter 11.
Any donations can be made to Shirley’s favourite charity JW.ORG.
