Hazel Florence Yetman (nee Davis)
December 23 1941 - January 25 2022
(80 years)

On the 25th of January 2022, Hazel Florence Yetman (nee Davis) passed peacefully away holding the hand of her husband and surrounded by her family.

Born in Cartwright, Hazel had many fond memories of her hometown such as spending time with her brother and childhood friends, rowing boat and picking berries, her father working at Fequet's Store and spending time at Pack's Harbour. After attending college at St. John's, she started teaching, first in Robert's Arm in Newfoundland, then in Mud Lake and finally in Red Bay. It's in Red Bay that she settled, starting a family with her husband George. Hazel was a very active member of her community, serving on the town council, and being president of both the Red Cross Society and the Women's Institute branches of Red Bay.  She stopped teaching full-time as her family grew... but ended up working at school near the end of her career at what was probably her most rewarding job - a student assistant to some of the most precious people in our community - including Dion Ryan, Byron Moores and her own niece, Melissa Pye. Known for being sweet and kind, and not saying a "bad word" about anyone, it's no surprise that none was said about her. Predeceased by her parents Frank and Blanche Davis. Her in-laws Eff and Nellie Yetman.Leaving to mourn with many loving memories her husband of 56 years George, children: Gregory (Glynis), Doris (Ken), Neil; grandchildren: Brooke (Joe), Zachary (Brooklyn), Brandon (Sabrina), great- grandson: Owen ; brother Lewis, sister-in-law Doris and Niece Bobbi.; extended family: Lily (John Marshall), Hayward (Lilly), Clarence (Mary), Ralph (Elsie), Gerald (Janet), Stella (Freeman Pye), Juanita (Roy). She also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews and loving friends.

Funeral Service: Out Lady of Labrador Church, West St. Modeste NL Friday January 28th (by invitation only) COVID protocol to be followed. Internment: Roman Catholic Cemetery, L’Anse au Diable NL. Please contact family regarding visitation. We would like to especially thank Juanita for her kind and tender care. It was so nice hearing her laugh with you these last few months. Also special thanks to Hayward & Lilly, Clarence & Mary and Ralph & Elsie for your nightly visits. She looked forward to seeing you each night for Jeopardy. Thank you also to the many people who called, visited, sent flowers and food or kept us in their thoughts during these past months. We are forever grateful
