Passed peacefully away at Western Long Term Care, Palliative Care Unit, Grace Vardy on Friday, February 4, 2022 at the age of 87 years. Born in Fox Island, NL, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Dinah (Warren) Hayman. Grace enjoyed quilting, playing cards, travelling, playing practical jokes, she loved to laugh and making others laugh. She was a member of St. James Anglican Church ACW group in Port aux Basques. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Emma, Clayton (Annette), John (Sylvia), Betty (Allister), Mary (Hartley) and Glenn; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Allan (Margaret), Rita (Malcolm), Gerald (Leona), Clyde (Carol), Winnetta (Wilson) and Ronald (Chris); brother-in-law Cyril (Louise); sisters-in-law: Azelma (Albert), Annie and Helen; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by husband Norman Vardy, sisters Hilda (Gord) and Margaret, brothers Hartley, John, Hubert and Sammy. Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Sunday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Visitation will continue at East Haven Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Port aux Basques on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A private family funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 10 at 11:00 a.m. from St. James Anglican Church, Main Street, officiated by Rev. Jane Allen. Interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery. Due to the latest Government Regulations VaxPass, photo ID, masks and social distancing required for the visitation. Private funeral service will be by invitation only. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society.

 

It's a difficult task that a mother’s assigned –

To always be loving and gentle and kind …

For there surely are times when she’d much rather be.
