Obituary of Leslie Archibald Bennett
Leslie Archibald Bennett
January 22, 1937 – February 10, 2022
It is with tremendous sadness that the family of the late Leslie Bennett announce his passing at WMRH on February 10, 2022, at the age of 85 years. Although our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his darling daughter Dianne.
Left with precious memories is his loving wife of 61 years, Marie, along with children: Katrina (Gerry), Darren (Michele), Harold (Lorraine), Wendy and Andy (Judy); grandchildren: Lesley (Joe), Adrian (Juliah), Shannon (Brian), Marie, Brianna, Michael, Andrew and Ryan; great-grandchildren: Jordan & Jacey (his little sidekicks who he had the opportunity to spoil daily as they lived close by), Leah, Grier and Merek, Gunner, Jaxon and Nixon; brothers and sisters: Gordon (Maisie), Ruby, Ruth (George), Alice (Bill), Verdon (Inez) and Fred (Hilda); brother and sisters-in-law Harold (Dixie), Sharon (Glen), and Shirley; also many special nieces, nephews and extended family.
Predeceased by daughter Dianne, parents William and Blanche, parents-in-law William and Emma Welshman, brother Cecil (and wife Florence), brother William, sister Lilymae (and husband Coiley), brother David (and wife Melissa), brother Alex and sister-in-law Marg.
Dad/Pop, you will certainly be missed. You were the pillar of the whole family, best friend to most and always made each and every one of us feel like we were the most special person in your life. The smile when we’d enter the room (so happy to see us, even though we had visited just a short time before) and that warm embrace you always gave us on leaving (even though you’d see us again soon). Your gentle, yet outgoing personality touched so many through the years. You will never be forgotten, the stories of our life with you will be spoken of often; if we can ever get passed the grief of losing you, recounting stories of you will bring great comfort and a tremendous amount of laughs.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 12 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 13 at 2:30 p.m. from The Salvation Army Temple, O’Connell Drive with Majors Brian and Valerie Wheeler officiating. The funeral service will be livestreamed through Corner Brook Temple Facebook Page. Vaccine Passports, Photo Id, Face Masks and social distancing required for both the visitation & funeral service. Interment will follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation.
“You will never be forgotten, we pledge to you today,
A hollowed place within our hearts is where you’ll always stay.
You left us precious memories, your love will be our guide;
And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.”
