Obituary of Ada Clarke

It is with great sadness that the family of Ada Elmena Clarke announce her passing, on March 1, 2022, at the Labrador Health Center.  Ada was 73 years old. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are: husband Warwick; children: Dean (Wanda) Clarke, Roger (Valerie) Clarke and Denise (Tony) Myers; grandchildren: Kyle, Jared, Jessica, Ryan, Sarah, Erin and Brady and one great grandchild Nixon; brother and sisters: Frances (Eddie) Jenkins, Rita Hynes(Hardy Hopkins), Pansy (Garland) Elliott,  Hayward (Marguerite) Baggs, Dinzel (Kathy) Baggs, Edgar (Sheila) Baggs, Wilson (Rowena) Baggs, Mildred (Bruce) Jennings, Jean (Clarence) Froude, Clyde (Meshal) Baggs, and Lora Baggs; Ada also leaves to mourn a large circle of relatives and friends. 

On January 26, 1949 Ada was born in Twillingate, NL. She was predeceased by her Mom, Vera (1961), her Dad, Arthur (1989), baby brother Baggs, brothers in-law Fred Hynes, Doug Clarke, Junior Clarke, and sister in-law, Jean Barnes. 

Other than her family connections, Ada was passionate about many things. She loved quilting with her friends and making beautiful slippers/crafts. Her active lifestyle included cross country skiing, swimming, snowshoeing and as everybody knows, gardening.  Post retirement, Ada volunteered her time at the Lawrence O'Brien center and the Birch Brook Nordic Ski Club. Throughout her life Ada was committed to the Salvation Army church in many different facets. 

The family would like to thank everyone who came to celebrate her life, both those from the local area and those from away. The caring staff at the Labrador Health Center are greatly appreciated.  Ada was very vocal about her love for her family and her caregivers. 

Visitation by the public will be held on Wednesday, March 2, at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, from 6-8 pm.  The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 3, at 2 pm at the Salvation Army Church, with Major Byron Kean officiating. In lieu of flowers, at the request of the family, donations can be made to the Cancer Society.
