It is with great sadness that the family of the late Betty Jean Hillyard announce her passing on April 2, 2022, at the Western Long Term Care Palliative Care unit at the age of 85 years. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories is her brother Robert Hillyard, Corner Brook and sister Ruby Evans, Burlington, Ontario; Sisters-in-law: Harriet Hillyard and Vonnie Hillyard; nieces: Raelene Hillyard (Breanna), Michelle King (Duane, Jordan and Nathan), Wanda Hillyard, Debbie Cook (Wayne and Ryan), Sharon Swanlon, Dale Porterfield (Jim), Marilyn Sherman (Don); nephews: Rob Evans, Colin Hillyard (Suzanne), Rob Evans (Maureen) of Burlington, Ontario; as well as a large circle of great-nieces, great-nephews, other beloved relatives and close friends. Betty was predeceased by her parents Samuel and Rosa Hillyard, brothers Donald Hillyard (Marjorie), Verrick Hillyard (Sadie), Major Calvin Hillyard, Bruce Hillyard, sisters Hazel Evans (Bob) and May Auvigne (Lou), sister-in-law Betty Hillyard, niece Lisa Ivany and niece-in-law Paula Evans.

The family would like to extend a special Thank-you to Joyce Chaulk, Rob Giles (Pat). The nurses at Western Long Term Care, Palliative Care Unit, Captains Darren and Danette Woods, as well as a large circle of special family and friends.

Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Monday, April 4 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 5 at 2:00 PM from the Salvation Army Citadel on Clarence Street with Captains Darren and Danette Woods officiating. Internment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Corner Brook Salvation Army Citadel or a charity of one’s choice.

The Hillyard family wish to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and kindness shown to them during this hour of bereavement. May God bless and keep you.
