It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ross Maxwell Rowsell Sr. announce his passing on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Western Long Term Care, Palliative Care Unit at the age of 88 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Debbie Rowsell (nee Winsor) married 26 years and together for 30 years; children: Patsy Rowsell, Barbara Rowsell, Debbie (Tom) Matthews, Rosalind (John) Penney, Dawn (John) Bethune, Sherry (Fred) Krieger, Rick (Dale) Sequin, Shelley (Paul) Taylor and Roland (Venessa) Winsor; daughter-in-law Gloria Rowsell; 29 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandchild; brothers and sisters: Tom Rowsell, Cecil (Sylvia) Rowsell, Rose (Lorne) Wheeler and Edna Ivory; mother-in-law Joan Winsor; brothers and sisters-in-law: David (Elizabeth) Winsor, Derrick Winsor, Robert (Sheila) Winsor, Dianne (Tony) Kennedy, Marilyn (Wilf) Attwood, Joyce Rowsell and Marjorie Rowsell; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his sons Ross Rowsell Jr. and Dallas (Lana) Rowsell. Parents Thomas and Helena Rowsell, brothers Fred Rowsell, Bill Rowsell and Allister Rowsell, sisters Helena Rowsell and Mary Perkins, brother-in-law Larry Ivory, sisters-in-law Iris Rowsell and Laura Rowsell, father-in-law Calvin Winsor and niece Nicole Kennedy. Thank you to the Palliative Care Unit, Dr. Lafferty and Dr. Eason and the staff of 3rd floor, Western Memorial Regional Hospital wings 3a & 3b. A special thank you to family for their support at this very difficult time. Thank you to our Corp Officers Majors Jeff & Shannon Howard. Ross served with the Corner Brook Fire Department for 42 years. He was involved with the Gideon's Ministries for 22 years, where he went on a mission in Haiti at the age of 80 years. He was part of the Community Care Ministries for 20 years and loved his ministry of playing guitar with the Men’s Fellowship of the Salvation Army Corner Brook Citadel at the Long Term Care Home and various Senior Retirement Homes. Ross loved to hunt and fish and was forever thankful to his hunting and fishing buddy Victor Rowsell.  Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake on Thursday 4-6 p.m. with a reception to follow at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Deer Lake.  As expressions of sympathy, no flowers by request, donations may be made to The Gideons International.
