JOHN JAMES McCARTHY CORNER BROOK, NL Passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 21st, 2009, John “Jack” McCarthy after a courageous battle with Cancer, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 73. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his loving and devoted wife of 51 years: Christine; eight children: Anita (Brian) Blanchard, Debra (Barry) Elkins, Theresa, Kevin, Melvena (Paul Laing), Michael (Ellen), David (Theresa) and Dianna; grandchildren: Vanessa, Deanna, Anna, Amanda, Chrissy (Greg White), Andrew, Joshua, Krista, Gregory, Bradly, Paul, Shae, Mateao, Kyle, Coady, Kira and Jordan; two great grandchildren: Cole and Peyton; sisters: Sheila Froude, Madeline McCarthy, Eileen McCarthy, Dorothy Quilty (Dan) and Annie McCarthy; brothers: Joseph, Michael, Frank and Danny (Margaret) McCarthy; sisters-in-law: Alice Delaney, Charlotte Snow, Leona Wilton (Terry), Helen Fitzgerald, Blanche Fitzgerald, Mary Fitzgerald (Gary), Tina Vivian and Bernice Anthony (Michael); brothers-in-law: Clifford, Robert and Michael Fitzgerald; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Ann and John McCarthy; sister: Mary O’Brien; brother: Jim McCarthy and mother and father-in-law: Eunice and Tom Fitzgerald. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 23rd at 10:30 A.M. from The Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mt. Bernard Avenue. Monsignor Edwin Gale officiating, followed by interment at Mt. Patricia Cemetery.
