To Jackie, Kay, Kimball, Butch, So sorry to hear of Mr. Vardys passing...the Vardys have been in our lives since Glenwood in the 70’s...lots of great memories...I remember Mr. Vardy bringing home a truckload of fresh crab and sharing it with all the neighbors. He boiled them up and told us to go get a pot to fill up and enjoy...I remember everyone was so happy that day...that’s the Melv Vardy I remember! With much love and respect, Eileen

I was sorry to hear the sad news today regarding Melvin. On behalf of my family I wish to express our condolences to Jackie, Kay, Kimball and Butch.. Melv and I worked together on the same team enjoying many good days and good times, first with Bowater and later with Kruger woodlands operations. I first worked with Melv in 1969 at Glenwood, then headquarters for Bowater's Eastern Division that produced and delivered pulpwood to Corner Brook via the NL Railroad. The great outdoors there served us both well and the Glenwood woodlands staff and loggers were exceptional. .

Jackie, Kay. Kimball. Butch and families,
There are lots of adjectives that describe Melv , to mention a few…..kind, cheerful, loving, happy, funny but most of all giving ! He gave his all to his family , friends , or anyone he met along the way. He gave to a point where you couldn’t leave his house without something.A piece of woodwork, preserves, Jackie’s bread or anything else that popped in his head.Now you must have it whether you needed it or not! “ Take the ketsup “ was a family inside joke about Melv because he actually offered it one day when “ No “ was the answer to everything else.He gave love to us all . He made us feel special and welcomed.But most of all he gave unconditional love to Jackie, Kay, Kimball,Butch, and all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. I was lucky enough to have a visit with him about three weeks ago and we talked about a lot of topics as Melv was well adversed about community and world affairs, but every few minutes he would wonder back and talk about one of his children and their families and their accomplishments . He loved you all deeply, his eyes would shine even in his darkest moments when he wasn’t feeling well as he talked about every one of you . You have all made him proud. I will always keep my memories of Melv ( and there are many ) close to my heart.

Not only was Melvin a wonderful husband , father ,grandfather and greatgrandfather -he was a fantastic mentor and anchor for his siblings children.
As you lay to rest the last of the 11 Vardy children, it has a left a void in all our hearts. We all have many memories, filled with laughter and love that will bring a smile when we think of our Uncle.
Our father ( his brother Ralph) always told us ,if I'm not around-go see Uncle Melvin...he will stand by you.
Thank you Uncle Melv, for the years of caring and the feeling of love each time I entered your door.
You done your siblings, your mother and father proud.
It's time now, even tho our hearts break, we will miss you, they want you to come home, your work here is done.

Jackie , Butch , Kay Kimball & families. Thinking of you all at this sad time . Melv was the friendliest, kindest man I ever met . I remember going to their home for a visit while camping there one summer & by the time I left , I had a summers diet of preserves plus Jackie’s homemade bread . I have many fond memories of time spent in Melv’s company over the years. He was a “character” , always there for a laugh ,drink, or a dance, or all three!. It was impossible to leave his company without him having given you something! At his command, Jackie always had to prepare some sort of lunch for anyone who stopped by! His love of family and life always shone through . He was a truly special person and will certainly be missed by all who new him.
