Obituary of Guy Nicholas Clarke

It is with great sadness that the family of the Guy Nicholas Clarke announce his passing at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s on June 27^th, 2022, at the age of 81.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 56 years Tina (nee Critch); sons: Chris (Natasha), Bedford, NS, and Brian (Deanna), Corner Brook; grandchildren: Hannah and Nicholas; sisters: Shirley Tilton (Wayne), Tampa, FL, and Phyllis Walsh (David), Steinbach, MB; brother: Robert (Bernice), St. John’s, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews as well as many in-laws. Guy was pre-deceased by his parents Nicholas and Caroline Clarke (nee Hancock).

Born on April 9^th, 1941, in Victoria, Conception Bay, NL, Guy was well known in the Corner Brook area after moving there in 1967 and being involved in various organizations. He was an avid baseball fan, both locally with the Barons as well as a loyal fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and could be found watching in person at Jubilee Field or at home watching the Jays on TV. He also was family-focused, and while generally a man of few words loved his wife, sons, and grandchildren immensely.

The family will be receiving family and friends at Fillatre Funeral Home, 1 St. Mark’s Avenue, Corner Brook, on Tuesday, July 5^th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The funeral service will also occur at this location at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 6^th. As per Guy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to either the Heart and Stoke Foundation or the Diabetes Canada in Guy’s memory would be graciously accepted by the family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Western Memorial Hospital ICU and the Health Sciences Centre’s Coronary Care Unit staff for their remarkable care and professionalism in their treatment of Guy.
