Wilson Doyle Price

July 10, 1945 - July 9, 2022

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wilson Doyle Price on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital surrounded by those he loved, one day before his 77th birthday. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 53 years Edna (nee: Gushue); children: Sheri Price (Tim Bartkiw), Jason Price (Heidi), Gregory Price (Dianne), Dennis Price (Melanie); ten grandchildren: Elizabeth, Margot, Mia, Lucas, Sophia, Braeden, Dylan, Hailey, Evan and Nolan; siblings: Daphne Leonard (Jerry), Sandra Kelly (Gerry), Christina Kelly (Wayne), Larry Price (Paula), Debbie Bruce (Leo); sister-in-law Regina Chaput, brothers-in-law: Edmund Gushue, Gerry Gushue, Andrew Gushue and numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. Wilson was predeceased by his parents Chesley and Laura Price and mother-in-law Elizabeth Gushue.

Forever the optimist, Wilson had a rare zest for life and appreciated every day, whether he was hopping into the car for a spontaneous roadtrip or helping Gregory at the store.  While looking out at the Bay of Islands from his back deck, he often remarked to his beloved wife, Edna, “It feels so good to be alive.”

Wilson was a fierce supporter of his children and nothing gave him greater joy than spending time with his grandchildren.  “Pop” was keenly interested in hearing what everyone was up to and enthusiastically encouraged his children and grandchildren in their various pursuits.

Wilson had a huge heart.  If a friend or family member – or sometimes even a stranger – was in need, nothing was too much trouble.

A lifelong outdoorsmen, Wilson loved spending time in the woods, hunting, fishing and berry picking.  And he was always sure to pack his Kelly kettle for a good cup of tea, which he always said tasted better in the woods.

Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and respiratory therapists at the WMRH Intensive Care Unit who provided exceptional care to Wilson during his brief illness.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home 4 St. Mark’s Avenue in Corner Brook on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 2:00 pm at All Saints Church, Clarence Street with Rev. Tanya White officiating, with interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. The family is requesting that everyone wears a mask during the visitation and service.

As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation.  Any stories you wish to share about how Wilson touched your life will be deeply appreciated by his family.
