Obituary of Anne Marie (White) Bennett

Anne Marie (White) Bennett passed away peacefully at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, NL on July 31, 2022 at the age of 78 years.

Anne was born on October 15, 1943 in Stephenville and married Melvin J. Bennett on July 29, 1963. She will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and someone who was always there if you were in need. She always put others first and worried about their well being right up to her last moments. Anne touched many lives through her 30 year career, working at both the Stephenville Crossing Cottage Hospital as a nurse's aid and the Bay St. George Seniors Citizen Home as a personal care attendant. This was a career that was well suited for such a caring, giving and loving person. Anne also enjoyed time with her family, quilting, playing crib, The Women's Institute, volunteering and also facebook. She had the best sense of humour and was known for being direct and telling it like it was. She made her family, friends and hospital staff laugh throughout her sickness which was indeed a comfort to those around her.

Left to mourn with beautiful and loving memories her husband, Melvin; three sons, Tony (Lisa) of Fort McMurray, Jon (Jill) of St. John's and Don of Ottawa; grandchildren: Ian, Jessica, Kayla, Mitchell, Bryant and Brandon; great-grandchildren: Darius, Ashton, Logan; her brother Joseph Mullins; Marie White and Helen McCarthy who were like sisters and countless nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

She is predeceased by her father Hugh White of St. George's and mother Catherine (Thomas) White of Stephenville. 

Thank you to the Doctors, nurses and staff of The Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital for their compassion and care during Anne's final days.

Visitation, Thursday, August 4, 2022, 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing. 

Church Service from Assumption Parish, Stephenville Crossing,  Friday, August 5, 2022, 2:00 P.M. with Fr. Edmund Dantes officiating.  Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Brook Street, Stephenville Crossing.

Family is asking for everyone to wear masks at the visitation and Funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choosing.
