June 23, 1949 – August 6, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Chester T. Brake announce his passing on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the Western Long Term Care, Palliative Care Unit at the age of 73 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Jane (nee Gallant) of 51 years; sons: Jason (Tanya), Daniel, Robert (Nikki); grandchildren: Caleb, Liara, Charlotte and Finley; niece Colleen Stafford (James; nephews: Patrick J. Raynard (Christine), Timothy Raynard (Andrea) and Michael Raynard (Cindy) of New York; sisters and brothers-in-law: Callista Eldridge, Alban Gallant (Marie), Jane Gallant, Guy Gallant (Cecilia), Kurm Gallant, Bob Gallant, Martha Hackett (Thomas), Madonna Joyce, Stephen Gallant (Caroline), Philomena Gallant-Vaters (Enos), Gerard Gallant (Linda) and Donald Gallant (Judy); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Daniel and Adeline Mae Brake, step-mother Elsie Brake, brother Daniel Minto Brake, sister Maxine Raynard, brother-in-law Patrick Raynard, father and mother-in-law Stephen and Cecilia Gallant, brothers-in-law Clyde and Basil Gallant, Junior Eldridge, sisters-in-law Rowena, Bertha and Rose Gallant. As per Ches’ wishes, cremation has taken place. A private visitation will take place for family and close friends. Interment to follow at Our Lady Sar of the Sea Roman Catholic Cemetery in Benoit’s Cove. As expressions of sympathy, no flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. A special thank you to the Western Long Term, Palliative Care Unit, the Cancer Care Units in Corner Brook and St. John’s and the Public Health Care in Benoit’s Cove. Also a thank you to Dr. C. Sparrow and Dr. S. Butt.
