Derrick Edward LaSaga

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Derrick Edward LaSaga in his 39th year on Aug. 18, 2022.
Derrick was born and raised in Stephenville, NL and moved to Yellowknife in 2010 where he met and married the love of his life Lynn Malcolm. They later went on to settle in Calgary where Derrick found his dream job of driving semi-trucks. He was very excited and shared his excitement of his job with everyone. He loved being on the road as it gave him a sense of accomplishment and freedom.
Derrick always had a passion for writing and when he was young, he had a dream of writing a book. In 2014 he saw his dream come true when he self-published an anthology of poetry in his book called “This Quest For That Final Horizon”.
Derrick always had a strong work ethic and worked hard to provide for his family. He will forever be remembered for his determination and his kind, gentle soul.
Forever loved and missed by his wife Lynn, beloved fur baby Baelyn, mom Debbie Decker, stepdad Reg Decker, father Steve LaSaga, brother Christian Decker (Nikki), grandmother Regina LaSaga, mother-in-law Sandra Malcolm, sister-in-law Shauna Malcolm (Houcine), nephews Adam, Haythem, Annas, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Derrick was predeceased by his grandmother Marie, grandfathers: Eddie Perrier and Vincent LaSaga, father-in-law David Malcolm, Aunt Karen and cousins Claude, Robert, Jenna and Wade.
He will live on in our hearts forever. A celebration of Derricks’ life will take place on Monday, August 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from the First United Church, St. Claire Ave., Stephenville, NL.
