Obituary of Dorothy Young

August 20, 1951- August 29, 2022

Passed away comfortably at her home surrounded by family after a 14-year battle with cancer, Dorothy Young at the age of 71 years.

Leaving to mourn with loving memories are her five sons: James (Jolene), Deon (Christa), Dean (Tanya), Charles (Tasha), Alvin Jr. (Pam); five daughters- Tracey (Garry), Dorothy, Catherine (Ken), Charlotte (Jeff), Valerie (Chris). Her pride and joy, her 15 grandchildren: Kristen, Shauna, Jamie, Bradley, Alex, Shannon, Megan, Brendan, Ethan, Devin, Jeffrey, Rosie, Alisha, James and Cailynn. Sisters, Rose (Albert), Phoebe (George), Blanche (Eph), Daphne (Wayne); brothers, Rod (Maryann) and Alvin; sister-in-law Betty; brothers-in-law Gerald (Harriet), and James. She is also leaving a large circle of nieces and nephews. 

She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years Alvin Young who she lost 5 short months ago, her mother and father,  Elizabeth and Arthur Young, Her mother-in-law and father-in-law Rosannah and James Young, brother Cecil Young, sister-in-law Marie Young, her sister-in-law Sarah and her husband Harry Bond. 

A huge thank you to Dr Costello in St. Johns for her unconditional care during this battle and to the palliative care unit in the Western Regional Memorial Hospital for their care over the last few months. She fought a tough battle and spent all of her time taking care of everyone; she is finally at peace with her loved ones and we know she is smiling down at us. She will always be in our hearts because in there, she's still alive. 

Friends and family may visit St. Boniface Anglican church on Wednesday and Thursday from where the funeral service  will  take place on Friday, September 2nd at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Elsie Rose officiating. The interment to follow at the church cemetery.
