Stephenville Crossing, NL

September 11, 1925 - October 2, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Beatrice Hawkins announce her passing on October 2, 2022 at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville at the age of 97 years.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children: Vivian, Stephenville Crossing,  Gregory (Madonna) Stephenville Crossing, Robert (Sheila) Dartmouth NS , Loretta (Michael) Dartmouth NS, David (Madonna) Stephenville, Kathy (Reggie) Stephenville Crossing, Kim (Andy) MacKenzie, BC.  Also leaving  to mourn are 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, many extended family and a large circle of friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Rose (Lucas) Curnew, her husband Andrew, brother Charlie Curnew, sister Annie MacLeod, daughters Patricia and Linda.

Beatrice was a strong, brave and kind woman. She was devoted to her family and faith and shared her love and wisdom with us. We are filled with gratitude that we had her in our life for so long and have many precious memories to cherish.

Many thanks to Dr Lamswood, Dr Dwyer and the staff at STRH for their compassion and care. Special thanks to the staff and residents of Acadian Village.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 5,  2-4  and 7-9 p.m. at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing.  The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, Oct 6 at 2 p.m. at Assumption Parish, Stephenville Crossing, with Fr. O'Quinn officiating. Interment to follow at the Catholic Cemetery on Brook Street.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Assumption Parish in Stephenville Crossing or to a charity of your choice.
