St. George's, NL

September 1, 1933 - October 6, 2022

 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Leo Young at the Bay St. George Long Term Care in Stephenville Crossing, NL at the age of 89 years.

He leaves to mourn his wife of 67 years, Kathleen Young; children:  Margaret (Matthew) Collier, Leo (Belinda) Young, Annett (Barry) Nash; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; his sister Rose (Dave) Morgan; his brother Wallace Young, numerous relatives, nieces, nephews and friends.

Gordon was predeceased by his parents:  Margaret & Wallace Young; siblings:  Annie, Edward, John, Walter, Cecelia, Rita, Theresa, Helena, Marie, Marion, Susan and Kate.

Gordon was a quiet and patient man.  He loved his family and provided for them very well. He worked for many years in the gypsum mine in St. George’s where he drove a huge dump truck. Some of his passionate things to do was gardening, hunting, fishing and of course carpentry. He also enjoyed the simple things such as berry-picking.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "St. Joseph's Church, St. George's”.

Church service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 @ 2:00 P.M.. from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in St. George’s with Fr. Edmund Dantes officiating. Inurnment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Shallop Cove, St. George's.

Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home in Stephenville Crossing, NL
