Surrounded by her loving family, Barb passed peacefully away after a short illness in Edmonton, Alberta on Saturday, November 28th, 2009 at the age of 59 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her loving husband Karl; son: Shannon McHugh, Ft. McMurray; daughters; Michelle McHugh, Duncan, BC and Terri McHugh, Lark Harbour; two very special grandchildren: Ashley and Jordan McHugh, Ft. McMurray; two step-children: Paul Gilbert, Ft. McMurray and Shelly Gilbert, Toronto, ON; her mother and best buddy Bernice Woodrow, Corner Brook; two brothers: Father Terry Boland, Lourdes, and Bruce Boland, Corner Brook; one sister: Lorraine Patey (Clarence), Irishtown; two nieces: Lisa Abstreiter and Jennifer White, both of Hinton, AB; sisters-in-law: Diane Connolly (Bern), Barb Sheppard (Dennis), both of Lark Harbour; Donna Sheppard (Marty), Ft. McMurray; brother-in-law: Morris Gilbert, Ontario; as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, relatives and friends from Newfoundland to British Columbia. Barb was predeceased by her father Leo Boland; step father: Luke Woodrow; nephew: Deon Patey; father and mother-in-law: Raymond and Sylvia Gilbert. Barb had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest, always finding the best in every situation. She loved her family passionately and longed for the day she could move “home” to Newfoundland. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Wednesday and Thursday from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 4th at 10:30 a.m. from Sacred Heart Parish, Curling, Father Bernard Buckle and Father Terry Boland officiating. Interment to follow at St. James Cemetery, Lark Harbour. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sacred Heart Parish, Curling or to St. James Church, Lark Harbour.
